Melissa Fensom
Principal, Founder and Teacher

Melissa began dancing at the age of three and went on to train professionally during which time she gained the RAD Student Teaching Certificate in 1992 with distinction and the highest mark in the school, the ISTD Teaching Certificate for Modern Dance, was awarded the Cup for Modern Theatre and took principal roles in the school’s annual shows.

Melissa’s exceptional talent for teaching was evident early in her training, leading to an invitation to assist a highly acclaimed choreographer during her final two years of study.

She enjoyed many years of work as a professional artiste dancing, acting and singing often taking the principal and title roles in a range of shows in the UK and Europe alongside many well-known and popular stars of stage and screen.

Melissa founded The Dance Shed in 2014 with a small group of toddlers in a baby ballet class and seven adult ballet students. Through dedication and a clear vision, she has grown it into a thriving and respected dance school, committed to excellence in both teaching and community engagement.
