Our Range of Jazz Classes
Jazz Choreography (Inter & Senior)
These classes are aimed at students who already take several other dance classes and are interested in developing their skills as a dancer.
It will consist of a thorough warm up followed by learning a routine over approximately 3 weeks giving students ample time to learn the steps as well as polish them to performance standards. The routines will vary so that the students are exposed to a wide range of styles such as lyrical, musical theatre dance, Fosse, American Jazz and more. This means the students will have the opportunity to increase their dance vocabulary and their understanding and development of different styles. With the constant and regular changing of routines, engagement and interest is much more likely to stay high.
This is a perfect class for students who attend the Jazz Fusion class on a Tuesday as they will be applying techniques learned in that class to the routines they will learn in this brand new Jazz Choreography class. However, it is not a prerequisite that they attend both!
Jazz Fusion
Jazz Fusion works very much in conjunction with the Strength and Conditioning class, where we apply the techniques learned in S&C to dance routines, exercises and styles. Most students will take the S&C class followed directly by the Jazz Fusion class.
With different material every week, Mia will be teaching you a fusion of styles including contemporary, lyrical and jazz funk that is underpinned by the jazz technique. You will learn how to master movements such as kicks, turns and leaps, developing technical dances with dynamic qualities, musical understanding, confidence, rhythmical timing and performance skills.
In this class, you will have the opportunity to learn about different styles of dance, work on improvisation and learn how to connect mind and body when you perform.
Junior Jazz
A high-energy class for children aged 5-11 years involving a warm up then working on a routine each half term to well-known music for this age group. This is very much a fun-based class for children who love to dance but don't want to take syllabus classes.
Adult Jazz
Our adult jazz classes are fun, high-energy sessions that begin with a lively warm-up to build strength, flexibility, and stamina. Each class then focuses on learning a routine over 2–3 weeks, with choreography that varies in style—from classic jazz to funk, lyrical, and more. All levels are welcome, and the emphasis is on enjoying movement and expression through dance.
